Press Release/Position Statement
-From the desk of the Candidate-
Friday, January 18, 2008
At
least one person thinks confessed serial killer Gary Hilton had accomplices
when he murdered Meredith Emerson on public land. 11th
District Republican Congressional candidate Carl Mumpower believes the Federal
government aides social predators by banning personal firearms on public
lands.
"The
bad guys know that people in wilderness areas are relaxed, isolated, and
essentially unprotected." "The Federal authorities admit they
don't have the manpower to effectively police pubic roadways and facilities,
much less the vast expanse of wilderness that represents a hunting ground for
criminals with a mission," said Mumpower. "Public land visitors
should have the right to be as well armed as park officers and for the same
reasons."
"It
is the nature of government to reach for the low hanging fruit and regulate
responsible people," shared Mumpower. "We see it at all levels
of a society - in the world of secular socialism, the drug dealers, criminals,
and other social predators are indulged or portrayed as victims while the real
victims are ignored." "Those responsible for passing these feel
good laws might do well to pause and remember that the constitution spoke
directly to the uninfringed right of the people to bear arms - the founding
fathers knew there is no liberty without safety.
