Press Release/Position Statement
At the beginning of his campaign for
the 11th District Congressional seat, Republican Carl Mumpower said,
“I want people to know my name, that I am running for Congress and where I
stand on the issues – the good folks of WNC will take things from there.” In follow up to that simple agenda, Mumpower
has announced the initiation of his “Retake America Campaign”. Citing an interest in “winning with my dignity
and that of the voters still intact”, Mumpower has committed to campaigning
against his Republican opponents and Democrat Heath Shuler “in an adult fashion
regardless of the pressures to do otherwise.”
“Campaigns in America have become an
insult to the values and intelligence of just about everyone but the folks who
make money from the nonsense”, said Mumpower.
“From experience I know that how you run determines how you serve and I
am not willing to undertake this responsibility with obligations to anything
but the right thing.”
“The Retake America Campaign begins with a commitment to run for this election
without funding from political action committees”, said Mumpower. “Most of my advisors started reaching for
the tranquilizer bottle when I made it clear that I was going to stay the
course on this commitment.” “A serious
campaign requires serious funding, but PAC money always has expectations
attached no matter the claims to the contrary.”
“I refuse to step into line because political handlers say I must – I
will count on the support of individual voters to get my message out and will
rise or fall on that financial support alone.”
Mumpower indicates there will be more
to come on his Retake America Campaign. “I am not going to campaign to meet the
expectations of the political pundits – I’ll leave that to other
candidates.” “I am going to take a “say
it, mean it, do it” approach to running that leaves people with a clear choice
of politics as usual or something better.”
“I would rather place myself in the hands of the people of Western North
Carolina than in the pockets of outside power brokers.”
(The candidate develops all position
statements to insure he learns the issues and you
have a chance to learn about
him. We appreciate your efforts to pass
on the message…)
