Since announcing his plans to run for the NC 11th District congressional seat a year ago, Republican Carl Mumpower has been a man with a mission.  "I have built my campaign on three goals", says Mumpower.  "One to work hard to earn my seat in Congress versus buy it, the second to match my actions to my words, and the third to push for authentic reform of my party back to its conservative guiding principles.   We have had solid success with all three."

Following the candidate's Town Hall meeting in Robbinsville last week, Graham County has joined in affirming their commitment to the Republican Party's core principles.  "I have always enjoyed visiting Graham County," says Mumpower.  "In fact my visit with the Cherokee residents of the Snowbird community was probably one of the most personally rewarding meetings I have had anywhere in the District.  I am grateful for Graham County's support."

"With Graham County supporting 'Principles First' we now have 12 of the 15 counties of the district on board," says Mumpower.  "That sends a strong message from most of our county party organizations that the word 'Republican' stands for something the voters of WNC can count on."

"Our core principles center on being careful with people's values and money, protecting the country, and keeping government small and people big," notes Mumpower.  "If I am elected in November, folks can count on me to make sure we keep those commitments."

"Contrary to the spin, in troubling times people become more conservative, not less," says Mumpower.  "In recent years the Republican Party has not kept the faith with our principles and promises and conservative support has understandably drifted away.  I have been steadfast in upholding conservative values for seven years on Asheville's liberal city council, and I do not intend to stop as a member of Congress.  With 12 counties behind me, I have the support I need to make sure that, unlike our current representative, my walk in Washington matches my talk back home."
