The
Senate joined the House last week to override President Bush's Farm Bill
veto, all but assuring success for those supporting the 300 billion dollar
legislation. The bill received strong support from both parties with
Elizabeth Dole, Heath Shuler and Richard Burr all voting in favor of the bill -
a "disturbing" partnership according to 11th District Republican
Congressional Candidate Carl Mumpower.
"The 2008 Farm Bill is filled with bloat and social agendas seeking to
help about everyone but our farmers," said Mumpower. "It takes
money from tax payer pockets to put it in other people's pockets and that is
more about socialism than the America our Constitution supports."
"The Democrat Party is socialistic by policy - the Republican Party by
indifference to principles. The result is a bunch of closet socialists
with an "R" after their names. No wonder people are jumping the
Republican ship and becoming Independents. There is little difference
in a tax and spend Democrat and a borrow and spend Republican."
"It is probably too late to save the Democrat Party from extremists and
special interests," notes Mumpower. "America's future rests on
the success or failure of Republicans finding the courage to return and hold to
our Party's core values." "I will continue fighting for the
soul of the Republican Party, and drawing attention to those who are
side-stepping the Constitution, feeding big government's special interests, and
playing Robin Hood with the American tax payer."
