~From the desk of the Candidate~
Press Release
Tuesday, May 6, 2008
In anticipation
of the big day tomorrow, I wanted to drop a quick note of thanks to everyone
who has laid their personal touch to the campaign over the past – hard to
believe – eight months. I know that
there have been many moments of patience, effort, support, prayer, and consideration
that have escaped my attention. I am
grateful and understand my part of the equation – honor my word, hold to my
(our) principles, and remember my contract to the people of WNC –
- Fight waste and corruption
wherever I can find it;
- Function as an independent
Republican who upholds conservative principles while not being obligated
to special interests or the Party power structure;
- Focus on constituent
services. I believe that
negotiating the hurdles of Washington’s bureaucracy on behalf of those
that one serves is among the most important functions of a Member of
Congress;
- Protect the future of our
children and grandchildren by doing my utmost to resist deficit spending,
reduce our national debt, and illuminate hidden earmarks and other forms
of spending excess; and
- Pursue principles over
politics, personal gain, and popularity. I will concentrate on doing the “right
thing” and hold onto it until I am successful...or until I find a better
way.
Tomorrow’s
outcome is in the hands of the people of WNC and higher authority. We will celebrate at our campaign office
(Suite 310 – One Oak Plaza, Asheville, NC
28801 / 828-252-8390 / 828-318-2595 – across the street from T.K. Tripps)
starting at 6:30 and continuing until everyone is able to leave with a
smile.
I said in the
beginning that I wanted the people of WNC to know my name and where I stood on
the issues – that they would take things from there. Thanks to your help, we have completed that
mission with principles intact and a matching capacity to accept the will of
that higher authority and press on regardless.
