Press Release
Monday, April 28, 2008
With a national debt of 9.5 trillion dollars, every man,
woman, and child in America has a mortgage of over $30,000 owed on behalf of
our government. 11th District Republican Congressional Candidate Carl
Mumpower has embraced fighting waste as one of his 5 priorities as a member of
Congress and has announced his "Wounded Eagle Award" as one means of
drawing attention to those responsible for that waste. Winners will be
sent a formal award certificate with an attached American Eagle Silver coin
that symbolizes the harms of deficit and inflationary spending. The first award
went out today.
"I am a big fan of William Proxmire - a hard working Democrat - who fought
waste for years through his "Golden Fleece" Award and willingness to
confront his colleagues in Washington," said Mumpower. "He also
refused to play the money game and obligate himself to the special interests
who fund most candidates in America. I walk my own path - as a hard working
Republican - but I believe this gentleman was on to something, and I intend to
borrow from his good example as a means to stop our country's borrowing
nonsense from China and other landlords of America's future."
The first Wounded Eagle Award by Mumpower has been conferred to House Speaker Nancy
Pelosi. "On the eve of the first check going out through the
Economic Recovery Plan she championed as leader of the House, I can think of no
one more deserving of the honor," said Mumpower. "This crisis
effort to compensate for years of poor leadership with a quick infusion of
borrowed money is more realistically an economic stimulus package for China and
reelection support for the very people responsible for our current economic
woes."
