~Mumpower for Congress Committee~
Press Release
Monday, April 14, 2008
Asheville City Councilman Carl Mumpower, retired
insurance agent Spence Campbell, and long-time Washington lawyer John Armor,
all candidates for the 11th District Congressional Republican Nomination, will
face-off tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday, April 15) on Matt Mittan's popular
"Take A Stand" show from 3 to 5pm.
Mumpower hopes all the voters of Western North Carolina will tune in so they
might have a better idea of where the candidates stand on the issues and, more
importantly, where they part company. Recent debates throughout the 11th
District have revealed the fact that Mumpower disagrees with his colleagues on,
among other things, President Bush's desire to grant retroactive immunity to
telecom companies for the illegal wiretapping of Americans and the North Shore
Road settlement in here in Swain County.
The winner of the Republican primary, to be held on May 6, will face Democrat
Heath Shuler this fall.
Listeners will have the opportunity to call in and personally ask questions of
the candidates, which Mumpower is especially looking forward to. "Matt's
show is a great opportunity for the voters to hear us out," said Mumpower.
"He has an educated and loyal audience; I'm grateful that Matt would have
us on. He added, smiling, "I'm sure folks won't be disappointed. I'm
counting on a lively and productive afternoon."
Callers wanting to field questions of the candidates can call (828) 240-9962 or
e-mail the show at
