Press Release
Thursday, April 3, 2008
Spring in an election year is the time of year for flowers, trees, shrubs
and campaign signs to start budding along our highways and byways. 11th District Republican
Congressional Candidate Carl Mumpower, in a reversal of traditional put them
everywhere thinking, has asked supporters and non-supporters alike to remove
his sign from public right of ways. Our
campaign has a sign tag asking that they be placed only on private property and
with permission some enthusiastic souls go for visibility versus the right
thing, said Mumpower. How we run lays
the foundation for how we serve, and I plan to win or lose standing up
straight.
Placing campaign signs on public property and highway right-of-ways is
against various state and local ordinances.
In a paradox of principled leadership, it is common practice by most
candidates to ignore the ordinances and make free use of the high visibility
locations found in public areas.
If folks find one of my signs anywhere on public
property I encourage them to pull it and discard it, offered Mumpower. Going a step further he noted, I understand
that supporters of other candidates have been seen pulling my signs off of
interstates and replacing them with their own.
I suppose they see it as a way to win I view it as a courtesy.
