More Regulation is Not the Solution |

Press Release

The struggling economy is being used as yet another
power-grab opportunity for advocates of big government, according to
11th District Republican Congressional Candidate Carl
Mumpower. “Ceding further powers to the Federal Reserve, an agency
whose printing press excesses helped create the sub-prime loan mess in the
first place, is not the answer,” said Mumpower. “This is Washington in
'crisis mode' – where drama trumps responsible action.”
“The prudent starting-place is to strengthen the
enforcement of the regulations that are already in place, demand regulatory
agency performance audits, and mandate improved cooperation between competing
agencies,” said Mumpower. “America in
the 21st Century seems to be running from accountability just as fast as
it can – in government, in business, in education – just about everywhere. Without accountability, nothing works –
including our economy.”
“When we establish enforcement consistency and make
believers out of the business community, then we can take a look for areas that
might benefit from new or reduced regulation,” noted Mumpower. “Big
government bureaucracies are more about 'magic dust' than action.” “What we need now is initiative from a few
‘Shreks‘ doing the right thing – not a Federal Reserve ‘Fairy Godmother’ waving
a bigger magic wand over the chaos.”
